Privacy Policy
Effective date: September 9, 2026
Shellary is a macOS SSH and SFTP client developed by Pantara Development. This policy explains how the app handles your information and how to contact us.
The app does not require a Shellary account, include advertising or analytics SDKs, or send developer telemetry. Your SSH and SFTP connections go directly to the servers you choose.
Information stored on your Mac
Connection profiles and preferences are stored locally. Profiles can contain server addresses, usernames and connection settings. Saved passwords are stored in macOS Keychain and are excluded from connection exports. Private key files remain on your Mac; Shellary retains permission to access files you select.
Connections and file transfers
When you connect, authentication data, terminal input and output, and file transfers are exchanged with your chosen server over SSH/SFTP. The server receives connection information, including your IP address. Its operator is responsible for its logging and data handling. These connections and files do not pass through a service operated by Pantara Development.
Remote text editing
Opening a remote file in an external editor creates a local working copy. When you save, Shellary uploads changes while the editing session is active. Closing the SFTP window stops this synchronization.
Working copies are retained in Shellary’s Application Support folder so you can recover unsent work. Use “Show Local Copy” to locate them and delete them when no longer needed. Your chosen editor may have its own backups, synchronization and privacy practices.
In-app purchases
Apple processes Lifetime Full Access purchases. Shellary uses StoreKit to read and verify purchase entitlements, unlock features and restore purchases. We do not receive your payment card details, and the app does not send transaction records to a developer-operated server.
Apple may provide us with sales reports and, depending on your Apple settings, app diagnostics. Apple’s handling of purchases and App Store information is explained in Apple’s App Store privacy notice.
Support communications
If you email info@pantara.dev, we receive your email address, message and any attachments you choose to send. We use these to respond and investigate your request. Please do not send passwords, private keys or sensitive server files. Email providers process messages to deliver this service.
Your choices and retention
You can edit or delete saved profiles in Shellary. Deleting a profile also requests removal of its saved password from Keychain. Exports, downloads, private key files and retained editing copies are separate files; manage or delete them yourself. Removing the app may leave these files and Keychain items on your Mac.
We retain support correspondence as needed to handle your request and any applicable recordkeeping obligations. Contact us to request access to, correction of, or deletion of information you have sent us. We cannot access or delete files stored solely on your Mac or your servers.
This website
These pages do not include advertising, analytics scripts or contact forms. Our hosting provider may process technical request information such as IP addresses, requested pages and browser information to deliver and secure the website. Any access controls supplied by the hosting service are governed by that service’s own privacy notice.
Children’s privacy
Shellary is a developer tool and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through support communications. Contact us if you believe such information has been sent to us.
Policy changes
We will publish any changes on this page and update the effective date.
